first of all i would like to introduce myself to you.
my name is xyz and i am 22 years old.
i was used to smoke 6 to 7 cigarettes a day for the last 3 years.for the last 50 days i didn't touch a cigarette.
it is only possible because i have strong will power that i will never touch a cigarette.
it all depends on your mind,so if your decision is strong enough then only you can quit smoking.
everyone in this world can quit smoking because i have done it.
Main points to keep in mind to quit smoking:
- develop a positive thought.never let your mind to think negative.suppose you just thought that the writer was a light smoker so he was success.it is the not the work of your healthy mind, this thought is due to nicotine receptor present in your brain.learn to win over these type of thoughts you will definitely win.
- don't try to keep it secret that you are fighting against nicotine, because your behavior in these days will not be normal.don't panic.it means nothing serious but you will behave like an angry lion.because your body will not getting on which it is dependent for many days even for years.
- always keep different options to make your mind busy when you will get carving for nicotine or cigarette.when your mind will think about cigarette then try playing games on a ps2 or try cycling with high speed or just walk where ever you can walk.
- always keep in mind that this will go away after some days.for me it was just for 15 to 20 days.
- i also had physical discomfort like excessive sweating from palm of hand and legs, headache, racing heartbeat, excess gas, acidity, dizzy eyes, impatient.first i thought i got some disease but when i searched the Internet it was found to be nicotine withdrawal syndrome.but the best option is to consult a good doctor when you will get these symptoms.
- have a place ready where you can run speedily when heavy need for nicotine will strike you.
Is it easy to quit smoking?
Well, this is a tough question to answer.neither we can say its easy nor we can say its difficult.because quitting smoking is a physical as well as mental task.the first two or three weeks are the most difficult time.when you will pass through this time then you will not face any problem afterwards.but as from my experience its little bit difficult but it should be kept in mind that no body going to die without smoking, while you are avoiding a very addictive dangerous chemical "nicotine'.
my experience when i quit smoking the first three weeks are the most difficult from which the first week was not so difficult.when my body found after a week,of my quitting smoking, that i am no longer supplying nicotine to my body then the protest of my mind and body started.i felt like i am not breathing naturally for that reason i have to take breath more deeply between few minutes of interval.i felt that my heartbeat is faster than normal that means faster than 72 beats per minute.the most difficult time was after taking my lunch.i had a bad habit of smoking one cigarette after lunch.everyday after my lunch when i tried to relax i felt like choking as if my heart will stop if i will not go outside or not do any physical activity.that's why i started walking everyday after my lunch.i walked the whole area around my house especially near women's college to divert my attention towards the girls who are the most effective element in the world to take my attention towards them. while walking my palms of hand and leg are full of sweat that my sandal was completely muddy.
Another aspect which threw me in trouble after smoking quit was the hunger.i felt like i am a monster and will eat the whole world in a few days.at that time a drank lot of apple shakes and dosas(a traditional Indian food equivalent to full bowel of pasta).in this situation i eat double the amount i eat everyday before quitting smoking.the best way to get away of this troublesome situation is to drink as much as water you can drink.i am not just telling lots of water i am telling that as much as you can drink without dying.yes whenever you will feel uncomfortable you have to drink half to a liter water.i did the same and i felt it very useful as it helped me to flush out the nicotine out of my body and also helped me from escaping that monstrous hunger that followed me during that period.sometimes i felt extremely bad to have a single cigarette,at that time there is a big play ground of an university,i went there and started running to get out of that urge to smoke.i am telling you i did this two or three times.but now i can not explain you how happy and better i m feeling after staying smoke free for so many days.
